Who we are

The University of Wolverhampton (‘The University’, ‘we’ or ‘us’) are a ‘Data Controller’, as defined by the Data Protection Act 2018 and are responsible for, and control the processing of your Personal Data. How We Use Your Data

The University of Wolverhampton will collect and processes your Personal Data for the following   purposes:

  • To invite you to sit on our faculty committee/board meetings as an external party to form the membership of the board or committee.
  • For administrative purposes during agenda preparation a minute taking.
  • To communicate with you when facilitating and arranging meetings, including inviting you to meetings.

We may, from time to time, contact you by email, post or telephone to pursue the purposes mentioned above and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Invite you to events, which may be of interest to you or your colleagues.
  • To keep you up to date with events and activities at the University of Wolverhampton.
  • To share news and achievements of the University and its staff/student body, including research and services.
  • To keep you up to date with other relevant information, which we think may be of interest to you or your colleagues.

Information We Collect

We will not process your personal data for any other purpose other than those stated above without informing you first.

The majority of information that we process about you will be provided by you. The personal data we will process includes your name,

The lawful basis we rely on for processing this information is legitimate interests, as it is necessary for the core administrative functions of the organisation. This type of processing would be reasonably expected by you, the data subject as a member of a board or committee and is not prejudicial to your rights or likely to cause harm.

 

Who We Share Your Personal Data With

Information is shared with relevant departments within the University for the purposes outlined above. We may also share personal details with organisations with enforcement powers such as HMRC or the Police. However, we will only do so if this is required to comply with our legal obligation to disclose information to these bodies. We will only share the minimum amount of personal data with any of the above and will always do so in accordance with the law.

 

Retention

The University will retain your Personal Data for five years from the year the committee or board business was conducted.

As an individual, you have a number of rights available to you.
