How We Use Your Data

The University of Wolverhampton will collect and processes your Personal Data to provide you with access, at no extra cost, to “Laerdal VSim for Nursing”, which is an online nursing simulation programme to support you in your knowledge of clinical assessment.

VSim is a license-based program, used by customers in the healthcare sector (e.g. Universities) to train staff in effective virtual simulation techniques.  Customers who sign up to the service are able to log on and complete online training programs. The system stores a log of learner activity / performance / results which is fully accessible by the customer's internal administrator. Your data will be used in order to create an individual account for you to access the Laerdal “VSim for nursing software”.

Information We Collect

Customers who sign up to the service are given access to an online portal which allows an internal administrator to list learner details, such as names, email addresses and departments in the system.

The lawful basis we rely on for processing this information is that it is necessary for the performance of your contract with us.

Who We Share Your Personal Data With

Information is shared with relevant departments within the University for the purposes outlined above. In addition, your name, student ID, cohort, and email address is shared with Laerdal Medical, to provide an account for you to engage with the software to support your studies and placement.

We may also share personal details with organisations with enforcement powers such as HMRC or the Police. However, we will only do so if this is required to comply with our legal obligation to disclose information to these bodies. We will only share the minimum amount of personal data with any of the above and will always do so in accordance with the law.
