Estates Masterplan - University Statement

The University of Wolverhampton has officially launched a new Estates Masterplan and long-term vision for the University’s presence in and across the Black Country.

Our Plan will deliver a bold and transformative vision creating vibrant, connected, high-quality campuses and ensuring the financial sustainability of the University. Our estate is too large. It is over-provisioned by 30% equating to an annual operating cost of £6m per annum. Releasing this resource will enable the University to invest in key strategic areas that will improve the student experience, protect jobs, enhance staff welfare and deliver growth.

The implementation of the Plan will be in phases and the first phase will involve the following core components:

  • The development of a Medical School and accompanying facilities. This will involve closing our Sports Centre in Wolverhampton and providing alternative provision.
  • The relocation of teaching activities from Telford Campus to City and Walsall Campuses by August 2026.
  • The relocation of professional service teams and activities to the second floor of the Civic Centre.

The initial phase also involves the relocation of the School of Art and Creative Industries into a different building where we will develop new, modern, inspiring teaching and learning spaces that help to foster creativity, collaboration, innovation and an enriched student experience.

This is a very exciting time for the University of Wolverhampton and we look forward to working with our staff, students and partners to deliver this ambitious and transformative programme.
