Festival of Science returns to Wolverhampton
The University of Wolverhampton annual two-day festival, SciFest 2024, is all set to spark interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
SciFest, now in its 12th year, will welcome schools and students from around the region on Friday 28 June and our local communities on Saturday 29 June 2024 at our City Campus in Wolverhampton.
Visitors can experience the amazing world of STEM through a range of free workshops, interactive science shows, experiments, games and drop-in activities – all designed to bring STEM subjects to life.
Exhibitors include the British Army, Twycross zoo, West Midlands Police, Dudley Zoo, Collins Aerospace, RAF Museum Midlands, Medical Mavericks, The Royal Institution, representatives from the NHS and Foxdog Studios.
University staff from all Faculties will be exploring aspects of STEM, including the creative industries and healthcare teams, covering a wide range of topics - looking at maths, investigating biomedical science, delving into pharmacy, solving crimes with forensic science and making the world of life science literally come to life.
Dr Martin Khechara, Associate professor for Engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) at the University, said: “The SciFest festival is our way of reaching out to schools, colleges and the local community to show them that STEM is something for everyone no matter who you are or where you come from, or what you look like.
“We’ve got a whole host of activities for people to do - an opportunity to explore the human body in a way you never thought possible with the explorer dome crew, discover the nature of energy itself with the explosive Energy Live show from the Royal Institution and play bingo to live rock music with audience controlled robots with Foxdog Studios.”
