Busy results day for University – but still time to secure a place

10/08/2021

Thousands of students are celebrating getting their place at the University of Wolverhampton following Results Day – but there is still time to secure a place for September.

The University has been busy taking calls and online inquiries today, Tuesday 10 August 2021, when many students received their exam results.

In the first few hours, the University received almost 1,000 calls to its Clearing hotline with the team also handling enquiries on social media and a live online chat.

There is still time to discuss options and find out more about studying at the University this September. The ways to get in touch are:

The University also has its first on-campus Open Day since the start of the pandemic on Saturday 14 August 2021. The Open Day will be from 9.30 – 3.30pm at the Wolverhampton, Walsall and Telford Campuses – further information about booking a place and which campus to visit are available at: www.wlv.ac.uk/opendays

Tim Steele, Pro Vice-Chancellor Global Opportunities, said: “We have a dedicated Clearing team who are trained to help everyone through the process and offer advice.

“The key thing is not to panic, there are lots of opportunities for all students, whether you have received your results today or are a mature student looking at the options available.

“The Open Day is a great opportunity to come and meet our staff, look at our amazing facilities and learn more about the courses on offer.

“This has been another challenging year for students and we have been listening to applicants, many of whom have said they are nervous about starting at university and what the future might hold. We’ve been developing specialist support events to help our future students transition to the University of Wolverhampton. More information about these events is available on our Get Set webpages.”

The Clearing webpages feature stories from students who have been through the Clearing process to secure a place. These include Kedemah Lubsey, 22 from Wolverhampton, who is just finishing her first year of studying for Young People, Family and Community degree in the Institute of Education.

Kedemah was made redundant during the pandemic in 2020, and realised that she had really enjoyed working with young people and wanted to study for a degree course that would help her achieve her career aspirations.

She says: “The Clearing process was straightforward and staff were really helpful. I got my place on the course and there’s so much to learn, the modules are really interesting and the lecturers have been really supportive and helpful.

“My advice to anyone who is thinking of applying through Clearing is just phone up, don’t be nervous, there are people you can talk to and they will help you as best as possible, there are options available and be open-minded about what’s on offer for you."
