CLASS OF 2023: University celebrates its first graduation of the year

The University of Wolverhampton is all set to celebrate its Class of 2023, who completed their studies in nursing and health, last year.

The graduation ceremonies will take place on Saturday 4 March, with over 500 students taking to the stage at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, in the City Centre.

The students celebrating their graduations have accomplished many achievements early on in their careers including studying during the pandemic, with many working on the frontline on placements in nursing, paramedic science, public health, and health and social care.

The students will join a community of over 145,000 graduates in 130 countries across the world, becoming part of the University’s global alumni network.

Head and shoulders picture of Prof. Damien PageProfessor Damien Page, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing said: “We are absolutely delighted to be celebrating our first graduation of the year next week, recognising the achievements of hundreds of students in nursing and health studies.

“The past few years have been challenging for our University community due to the pandemic and have been especially challenging for this faculty. Many of the students graduating will have been on the frontline to provide care and treatment for those who needed it, and I cannot put into words how proud and grateful I am.

“We are a university for, and of, the community, and I am proud of our collective response to these challenges and of the contributions our students and graduates make both here in our region and beyond.

“I would like to add my thanks to our healthcare partners who have supported our students throughout their student journey and helped shape them to become the healthcare professionals they are today and I wish them the best of luck in their careers.”

David Wedge, Deputy Head of Alumni Relations, at the University, said: “
Graduation is always an exciting time for the University and the City, as it turns into a sea of caps and gowns with students and staff proudly processing through the streets.

“Class of 2023 graduate successes will be celebrated on the University’s Alumni social media channels and graduates are invited to share photos, thank you messages and fond memories of their time at the University of Wolverhampton.

“Graduates will also receive a short video clip of their stage walk in the days following their ceremony – a lovely keepsake for them which they are able to share with family and friends and on their own social media channels.”

After graduation, graduates become members of the Alumni Association and are encouraged to keep in touch, to take advantage of a wide range of benefits and support on offer, including a discount for postgraduate study.
