University celebrates Class of 2020 graduating students

07/09/2021

The University of Wolverhampton is finally celebrating its Class of 2020 graduates with live ceremonies due to take place later this week – recognising their achievements in what was an unprecedented year.

The graduation ceremonies will take place from Thursday 9 September until Friday 17 September. 3060 students have confirmed their attendance at 17 ceremonies which will take place at The Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton City Centre.

The students who graduated during the Covid-19 pandemic join a community of over 140,000 graduates across the world, becoming part of the University’s global network.

Professor Geoff Layer, Vice-Chancellor at the University, said: “Our graduation ceremonies were postponed last year due to the pandemic, with students and staff showing great fortitude to get across the finishing line in some very challenging circumstances.

“It was without a doubt a very difficult year, but our students have achieved spectacularly.

“Staff worked very hard to ensure students had access to the best opportunities they could, and students should be very proud of themselves. We are looking forward to welcoming them back to the University for their much-deserved celebrations during the Class of 2020 graduation ceremonies.”

Class of 2020 graduate successes will be celebrated on the University’s Alumni Facebook page as well as their Instagram and Twitter channels. Graduates are invited to share photos, thank you messages and memories of their time at the University of Wolverhampton.

Graduates are encouraged to keep in touch with the Alumni team and take advantage of a range of benefits and support on offer to them including a discount for Postgraduate study and opportunities to benefit from mentoring, volunteering and career advice.

Anyone looking to study at the University of Wolverhampton should register for one of our forthcoming Open Days.
