Service Update: The Library remains open as usual

Library Update following latest Government Covid-19 Announcement: The Library remains open as usual

On 8 December the government announced new Plan B Covid-19 measures which are due to go live from Monday 13 December and we wanted to let you know what this means for the University Library.

The Library is recognised as an essential support service and our dedicated library team will continue to provide support both on-campus and online, as we have done since re-opening in August 2020, in spite of these new measures. There are no planned changes to the way that you access study space, how we deliver our Academic Skills support and all of our resources remain available to you in the same way as they have been all semester long.

There are a few important points to note if you are planning to visit one of our libraries:

  • We will be asking that all students, staff and visitors who are not exempt to wear a face-covering in the Libraries from Monday 13 December. When you are seated, and there is plenty of space around you, you may wish to remove your face covering, if preferred.
  • Please remember to bring your ID card with you whenever you visit the library.
  • Check our opening hours if you are planning to visit over the Christmas period as these may change at short notice.

Student and staff safety and wellbeing are a top priority so please do wear a face-covering in the library if you are able to, continue to give each other space, continue to use the provided hand sanitisers often and remember to use the provided cleaning spray to clean down your study space before and after use.

You can find more information about the University’s response to the latest government announcement here and for guidance on how you can stay safe when visiting campus please see the University’s Staying Safe on Campus webpage.

As always, if you have any queries – please visit our support page for further info, guidance and to find out how to get in touch.
