University of Wolverhampton has been awarded four stars in the latest QS Stars international rating system.

QS Stars is a rating system that provides a detailed look at higher education institutions across the world, focusing on specific topics such as teaching strength, graduate employability, research strength, inclusiveness and innovation.

We received five stars in five key areas:

5 stars for Teaching

In the category it measures student satisfaction with teaching, overall student satisfaction, and the ratio of teaching staff to students.

5 stars for Employability

Measures graduate employment rate, links with employers through employer presence on campus, and the level of support offered to students through careers service staff.

5 stars for Facilities

The facilities category looks at the physical infrastructure of an institution, providing students with insight into the environment they can expect for the university experience. It measures the volume and quality of sports, medical, IT, accommodation, and library facilities, in addition to the number of student societies available to students

5 stars for Inclusiveness

Measures the amount of money spent by the University on scholarships and bursaries for students, the gender balance of students, proportion of students from low-income backgrounds, and the accessibility of the campus for disabled students.

5 stars for Internationalisation 

Measures proportion of international students, proportion of international staff, international diversity in terms of the number of different nationalities represented on campus, academic exchange opportunities, and international diversity on campus.

4 stars for Innovation

Measures the number of registered patents, the number of spin-off companies, and the volume of industrial research relating to the University

Specialist Criteria: 4 stars, BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance

The Programme Strength category identifies an institution’s specialist programme, looking at the competitiveness and strength of a specific, named programme chosen by the institution from the degree programmes on offer

3 stars for Research

This category looks at research productivity and the impact of that research, the amount of funds dedicated to research, and a university’s reputation for research among academics.
