Special Exam Arrangements

Special Exam Arrangements

Special Exam Arrangements are offered to students with a recognised condition or impairment.

To be eligible for Special Exam Arrangements students are required to provide the Student Enabling Centre with evidence of their condition or impairment. This information will then be communicated in the Tutor Awareness Sheet (TAS) to Student Office staff who will ensure that the adjustments are put in place for main examinations.

The Student Office staff will contact students prior to main examination timetables via the e:Vision Helpdesk, this will be to confirm if the arrangements are no longer required. It is important that students respond to this query as failure to do so could result in the student being re-assessed.

Special Exam Arrangements can include:

  • Extra Time
  • A Reader or Scribe (Amanuensis)
  • The use of a word processor
  • A British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter
  • Separate Room

In-Class Tests

In-class test assessments are similar to special examinations arrangements but are organised with respective academic schools. The arrangements for these assessments are communicated through the Tutor Awareness Sheets (TAS) and can include a range of adjustments such as:

  • Extra Time
  • A Reader or Scribe (Amanuensis)
  • The use of a word processor
  • A British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter
  • Separate Room

It is important that the student notifies the staff member organising these arrangements if they do not require the recommended adjustments.

Target Dates for Special Exam Arrangements

In order to apply for special exam arrangements, you will need to register, by completing a self-declaration form and submitting valid supporting evidence to Student Support & Wellbeing (SSW). This also needs to be prior to the set target date. Please find the target dates to register for each semester below.

If you are not able to register in time, you can still receive special exam arrangements for future exams, where eligible. If you feel you are unable to sit exams with arrangements in place, please seek further guidance from ASK@WLV on the e:vision help desk or call 01902 518 518 for further advice.
