Support for Apprenticeship Students

At the University of Wolverhampton, we have a proud history of supporting disabled students and learners, and those who consider that they have additional learning needs. As an Apprentice Learner with an additional learning need or needs, you can access support and adjustments including (as appropriate to the course) automatic extensions, extended library loans, access to accessible software on University computers and access to University support services. 

To register with the Disability and Inclusion team please complete the online Self declaration form  https://www.wlv.ac.uk/current-students/student-support/student-support-and-wellbeing-ssw/self-declaration-form/  and upload your supporting evidence under the correlating header at the end of the form. Please ensure your documents do not exceed 2mb and is in either Word or PDF format. If you are having any difficulty obtaining evidence, or uploading it, please don’t let this put you off disclosing, the team will still be in touch.  

 

Once the self-declaration form is complete, please contact our dedicated team member who supports all apprentice learners within the Disability and Inclusion team on ALNapprentices@Wlv.ac.uk . This will enable a meeting set up with you to have an initial conversation about any queries or concerns you have, and you can then both co agree the next best steps.

Access to Work - Support for Apprentices

This free service supports apprentices who are feeling low, upset and struggling to keep up with their apprenticeship. It is completely confidential and run by fully trained professionals with expertise in mental health.

To qualify for this service, you must:

  • be in an apprenticeship (attending or signed off sick); and
  • have a mental health condition that has resulted in absence, or is causing difficulties to remain in your apprenticeship

What help is available?

  • An expert from Remploy will provide you with emotional well-being support and advice for nine months;
  • they will help you to cope better so you can concentrate on your apprenticeship;
  • develop a step-by-step support plan to keep you on track;
  • advise on workplace adjustments; and
  • help an employer understand how they can best support you if you are experiencing a mental health condition.
