Maths Support Centre

The maths support centre offers support and guidance to help you with any level of mathematics, statistics or numeracy to help you with your studies.

The maths support centre based in MD112 (Harrison Library) is a FREE service open to all students, from any school, studying any subject, and in any year.

How we can help you?

Our sessions provide a relaxed, friendly and non-judgemental atmosphere offering assistance with any aspects of Mathematics or Mathematics related subjects.  You will be helped on a first come, first served basis and are welcome to attend any session.  There are no appointments.  For more information check our opening times.

We can go through your notes with you, show you extra examples, go through a specific technique with you or teach you how to use the specialist maths or statistical software we have available.

Here are some examples of mathematical problems that we can help you with:

  • Nursing or Pharmacy students struggling with drug calculations.
  • Engineering students having trouble understanding partial fractions.
  • Final year project students having difficulty completing the statistical analysis.
  • Facing a numeracy test at your interview?  Come and ask us about improving your skills.

We understand that maths can be tricky, especially if it is a topic you haven’t seen before.  It can be difficult to pick something up first time, particularly if you had to go through it quickly.

Maybe you just want someone to go over a topic again but at a slower pace, or you need to see a few extra examples.  Perhaps there is part of one example you just don’t follow and need someone to explain how they got the answer they did.

Whatever the question the Maths Support Centre staff are willing and able to help, so come and ask us.
