WLV Welcome and induction activities have now begun to take place, with teaching due to start for most undergraduate students in the week beginning Monday, 28 September 2020 (this may be earlier for some courses).
Most Postgraduate programmes will be starting slightly later on Monday, 26 October 2020 (some courses are starting earlier).
Once you have enrolled and registered for your modules this year, you will be able to view the WLV Welcome Topic in Canvas.
It is very important that you engage with welcome and induction activities both online and on-campus. It will introduce you to your course for this year, and what is expected in blended learning. You will need to familiarise yourself with the health and safety and social distancing guidelines for our campuses. It is your responsibility as a member of the University community to aware and abide by these guidelines so that everyone can be safe.
Blended learning involves studying using a mix of recorded lectures, online learning resources, face-to-face teaching, activities and developmental assessments.
These recorded materials and resources will be accessed through Canvas, which is the University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). On-campus activities, which you will see in your timetable, may include seminars, practical classes and group discussions.
While large group lectures will not be formally timetabled, each module will have scheduled learning activities so that you will progress through your studies on a week-to-week basis. Any learning which is synchronous (takes place at a specified time so that participants can join it live) will be included in your timetable, including both online and face-to-face learning.
We recognise that many of our students will have additional commitments outside their studies, so we are doing all we can to ensure timetables are ready as soon as possible. These are exceptional circumstances and we really appreciate your patience in relation to this in these challenging times.

We have a rolling programme of fun activities planned as part of our WLV Welcome this year and given the current circumstances, we’ll be hosting a range of social and interactive activities both on-campus and online in September and into October.

The University of Wolverhampton will welcome students back to their studies from September.

Here you will be able access the induction programme from your Faculty, as well as:
- Welcome video from our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Geoff Layer
- Health and safety information for when you are back on-campus
- Advice and guidance on engaging with blended learning
- Information on how to access support services
If you haven’t already done so, you should also download the myWLV app which will give you access to your personalised timetable once it is ready, including any social events taking place during the year.

Timetabling
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to work differently and everyone’s safety is at the heart of what we do. We will need to manage social distancing on our campuses in the new academic year, and to achieve this we are teaching our courses using blended learning.
Blended learning involves studying using a mix of recorded lectures, online learning resources, face-to-face teaching, activities and developmental assessments.
Any large group lectures will be recorded and released online through Canvas for you to access at a time that works best for you. Students will need to ensure they have accessed any recorded materials before attending the related on-campus seminar, workshop or practical class.

We appreciate that not all students will be able to return to campus. Where possible, on-campus teaching will also be made available in a virtual version, for those students who are not able to return to campus. For example, students who are shielding/in quarantine, have caring responsibilities or have concerns about returning to campus, may be able to attend an online version of a seminar or access a recording or live streaming of a session delivered on campus.
Personal timetables will be released on 14 September 2020. It is important that you consult your personal timetable on MyWLV, and only attend the sessions for which you are scheduled.

Class of 2020
We’re planning a week-long celebration for our Class of 2020 graduates!
We couldn’t be prouder of everything our students have achieved in these challenging and unprecedented times.
From Monday 14 September we'll be holding a week of virtual celebrations across our social media channels to celebrate the hard work and achievements of the Class of 2020. These online celebrations do not replace formal graduation ceremonies which will take place next year, but we hope that this will be an opportunity to mark our students' achievements in the meantime.
