The D.I.I.verse Hub Podcast: World Cup Special
Join Adam Vasco, Kerensa Hodge, Loreal Stokes & Aisha James as they explore a range of topics under the umbrella of Diversity, Inclusion & Intersectionality through interviews with special guests.
Football is everywhere again. It is England's national sport, loved by many in Britain and around the globe. Following the success of the Lionesses in the Euros, it is now the men's turn. The men's FIFA World Cup is one of the most watched events, with billions tuning in to support their counties in the tournament. Since the announcement of Qatar as a host nation, there has been controversy. Much of this has centred around the country's laws on issues such as LGBTQ+ rights and the reports of thousands of deaths of the migrant workers who have been building the stadiums. Is this simply thinly veiled Islamophobia, and who has the right to be the moral compass in a world filled with such vast inequalities? Join Adam, Aisha and Julian from the University of Wolverhampton's D.I.I.verse Hub, who discuss this and more.
