I want to reassure you that our University campuses will remain open to students across the Christmas period in order for you to continue to access facilities in a safe and Covid-secure environment. Halls of Residences also remain open for those students who are staying over the Christmas break. Our University libraries will be the focal point; where you will be able to make use of study spaces and access support.
For all teaching that can be transferred online, the last day for on campus teaching will be Friday 4 December. Courses which have practical sessions will end on campus teaching by Tuesday 8 December at the latest:
Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Studies: All on campus teaching will finish on Friday 4 December except Masters teaching timetabled for Saturday 5 December.
Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing: All on campus teaching will finish by Tuesday 8 December. Students who are on Health, Allied Health and Social Work placements will be able to continue on these as planned. Education students due to finish placements on 10 December will receive further updates separately.
Please be assured that the University campuses remain open for students to access facilities in a safe and Covid-secure environment. This includes study spaces located in our libraries where students can engage with their online learning. Book a study space by clicking on this link.
To support our planning with local authority and transport partners, a survey is now available for those students who will leave their term-time accommodation and travel home for the Christmas period.
If you are a student that lives away from home during the semester, for example in University accommodation, private halls or renting, and intend to travel back to your home address, please ensure you complete this survey as soon as possible. Find the link here.
In partnership with the Students' Union, the University has a School Representative Student Voice platform. School Reps represent you and your Student Voice at School level to continuously improve the student experience. They work in close partnership with the University and represent students' views at key University meetings to ensure your Student Voice is being heard.
School Reps work closely with your Head of School and the Course Reps to find out the different issues affecting our current students; ensuring these issues are raised, addressed and the outcomes always communicated to you.
You can find out more about your School Rep for this academic year by clicking here.
The Let's Talk virtual sessions offer a weekly inclusive and friendly space, which is open to all students.
