Coronavirus Student Update: 18 March 2020: School/Institute Web Pages

18/03/2020

Please be aware that this information was shared with students by email and correct at the time of sending. For the latest Covid-19 guidance, please visit our coronavirus webpages: www.wlv.ac.uk/coronavirus. If you are a student who has a query or needs support, please log a helpcall with ASK@WLV in e:Vision (www.wlv.ac.uk/evision).

Following on from the announcement that the University has stopped all face-to-face teaching and assessments from today (Wednesday 18 March 2020) I wanted to reassure you that plans are being implemented as a matter of urgency to ensure that you continue with your studies.

Whilst we are making every effort to ensure that you are not adversely affected we realise that you may have questions that might not have been readily identified and answered in the more general FAQs section on the University website.

Rest assured that we are working through particular areas and doing our utmost to support you and we are looking carefully at making appropriate adjustments to elements of your study that can’t be delivered online. Our aim is to be as flexible as we can, even if this means doing things in an alternative way to ensure that we can meet requirements wherever possible.

We will be putting mechanisms in place to ensure that you can maintain contact with staff or your support teams remotely but in terms of the more immediate issues that may affect you in the short term, we have set up some dedicated School and Institute web pages which are designed to keep you up to date with news, advice and guidance. This should include answers to some of your questions. Scroll to the bottom of the landing page to find your School specific link:

Libraries will remain open for the time being but please remember that government guidance is asking us all to practise social distancing so please avoid, if at all possible, coming into the University and try to avoid group contact wherever you can.

Please be mindful that there may be things that we haven’t been able to cover on the web pages and if you do have any further questions, please log your call through e:Vision. A key benefit to using the Helpdesk call is that it's very easy to track, update and have a record of your query and our responses, we will respond to your call as soon as possible.

Please also keep an eye on the University webpage: https://www.wlv.ac.uk/news-and-events/coronavirus/ for more information and on the University Social Media channels for updates.

The wellbeing of our students continues to be the University’s priority and I would like to acknowledge the amazing work that has been done by staff in managing this unprecedented situation. We know that it will not be perfect but everybody is doing their best to support you in carrying on with your studies remotely. We are encouraging everyone to be mindful of their own health and that of their family and friends. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and co-operation during this time.

Professor Julia Clarke
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience)
