As the University of Opportunity it is crucial that we do everything we can to enable all individuals to succeed. We are committed to becoming an inclusive University for all, removing barriers to ensure that all can participate and achieve their potential. To fulfil the above in relation to promoting racial equality, we used the advance HE ‘Race Equality Charter’ framework to develop a robust action plan, which was also a part of our successful submission in gaining a bronze award Race Equality Charter mark in October 2020.

‘Let’s Talk About Race in the Workplace’ race equality training course builds on our REC action plan, providing staff with knowledge to ensure we have an inclusive workplace, one in which everyone is treated with respect and dignity.

‘Let’s Talk About Race in the Workplace’ race equality training course has been designed to persuade learners that racism is not just about explicit racist language, abuse or discrimination, it can take the form of inequality and inadvertent bias ingrained in the way organisations and society is run.

The course will further support learners to consciously and proactively address racial bias in their organisation.
