University Strategy 2035 – Creating Opportunity, Transforming Futures

29/04/2024

Dear student,

Today marks an important date in the University’s recent history as we officially launch our new University Strategy 2035: Creating Opportunity, Transforming Futures.

Over the past six months, we have collectively explored how we can continue to build on our rich heritage whilst also looking ambitiously to the future.

During the consultation and the many conversations, it became clear that the University’s overriding objective is to make a positive difference for the future - for our students and staff, for our city and region, for the nation, and across the globe where our international presence is growing.

It also reaffirmed our identity as a civic institution, powered by our sense of place and strengthened by our connections to our local and global communities.

This commitment is reflected in our new Vision to ‘Create opportunity, transform lives, and work to build a more inclusive, productive, and sustainable society’.

Our new Strategy will ensure that together we will:

  • Create opportunity – providing the widest possible access to high quality education and support the creation of highly skilled jobs.
  • Develop people – the skills and capabilities of our students and staff, embracing diversity and employability to further enhance career success.
  • Shape the future – ensuring our learning, research and knowledge exchange creates a fairer, more productive and sustainable society.
